Description
This poster documents a February 24, 2008 performance at The Fillmore featuring Built to Spill with Meat Puppets, bringing together two acts with deep roots in American alternative rock. By this point, Built to Spill—led by Doug Martsch—had established themselves as one of the most consistently respected indie bands of their generation, known for extended live arrangements and guitar-driven interpretations of their catalog. The Meat Puppets, whose influence stretched from early punk through psychedelic and desert rock, represented an earlier lineage that directly shaped much of the alternative scene Built to Spill emerged from. Designed by Matt Leunig, the poster is part of the Fillmore’s long-running series of venue-commissioned artworks, serving as a visual record of a bill that connected multiple generations of independent rock at one of San Francisco’s most historically significant stages.
