This blacklight poster reproduces the Gestalt Prayer, a text attributed to Fritz Perls and widely circulated in the early 1970s as part of the counterculture’s embrace of self-definition and personal autonomy:

I do my thing and you do your thing.
I am not in this world to live up to your expectations,
And you are not in this world to live up to mine.
You are you, and I am I,
and if by chance we find each other, it's beautiful.
If not, it can't be helped.

Produced by One Stop Posters in Los Angeles and printed in 1971, the design pairs fluorescent pink typography with silhouetted figures rendered to activate under blacklight. The piece reflects the era’s intersection of psychology, philosophy, and poster art, where message-driven graphics were intended as both decoration and declaration. Examples like this were commonly sold in head shops and college bookstores, and surviving copies remain sought after for their cultural specificity, blacklight printing, and strong association with early-’70s counterculture interiors.

Condition

Printed text and color fields remain legible and visually strong. Margin and edge wear present, consistent with age and handling. Any wear appears confined primarily to border areas and does not materially impact readability of the printed text. Verso shows offset/transfer consistent with original printing and stacked storage.
