Description

This poster documents a March 8, 2001 performance by The String Cheese Incident at The Warfield, during a period when the band was firmly established as a central force in the late-1990s and early-2000s jam-band scene. Known for blending extended improvisation with elements of bluegrass, funk, jazz, and electronic music, String Cheese Incident had cultivated a dedicated national following built around live performance and touring culture. The Warfield appearance reflects the band’s transition from festival-focused circuits into larger theater venues while maintaining the communal, exploratory spirit that defined their shows. Designed collaboratively by Jeff Jeff Petersen and Arlene Owseichik, the poster is part of the Bill Graham Presents poster series documenting major touring acts in San Francisco.
