Description

This poster documents an August 26, 2006 performance by Zach Galifianakis at The Fillmore, during a period when Galifianakis was building a reputation for his unconventional blend of stand-up comedy, absurdist humor, and musical interludes. At the time, his live performances often took place in music venues rather than traditional comedy clubs, reflecting his close ties to alternative and indie audiences and his tendency to blur the boundaries between comedy, performance art, and live music culture. Designed by Lisa Eng, the poster is part of the Fillmore’s long-running series of artist-commissioned works documenting a wide range of performers beyond rock concerts alone. Issued as an offset lithograph, the piece captures a moment just prior to Galifianakis’s mainstream breakthrough, when he was still primarily known for cult-favorite live shows that thrived in venues associated with adventurous and nontraditional programming.
