Description

This poster documents a November 2, 1996 performance at The Fillmore featuring Weezer with support from Superdrag, during a period when Weezer were touring in support of Pinkerton. Though initially polarizing upon release, Pinkerton would later come to be regarded as one of the band’s most influential and emotionally raw records, making live performances from this era especially significant in hindsight. Superdrag, at the time riding momentum from Regretfully Yours, represented the revival of hook-driven power pop within the alternative rock landscape. Designed collaboratively by Joel Elrod and Arlene Owseichik, the poster forms part of the Fillmore’s long-standing tradition of commissioning artist-designed works to document touring acts. Produced as an offset lithograph and printed by Great Impressions in South San Francisco, the piece serves as a visual artifact from a pivotal moment in 1990s alternative rock, capturing both a major band in transition and the supporting ecosystem of influential contemporaries.
